Research Summary

I am interested in every aspect of the genetics and genomics and theirs use in aquaculture. Following the successful genomic sequencing of several species of interest to global aquaculture such as Atlantic salmon and rainbow trout, our challenge now is to decipher the information encoded within their genomes and apply this knowledge to improve the sustainability of aquaculture.

Teaching

Currently, I teach genetics, genomics and biostatistics with computer language R in the following programs:

PhD in Biotechnology offered jointly by Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso and the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María.

Oceanography a undergraduate program offered by Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso.

PhD in Aquaculture offered jointly by Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, the Universidad de Chile and Universidad Católica del Norte.

BETA PUCV is a curricular enrichment program for high- achieving  students, which strengthens their cognitive and academic skills.

Industry partnerships

Collaboration with the Aquaculture industry and their stakeholder’s is at the core of my lab at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso.
