Genes and Genomes – Valparaíso


GENES AND GENOMES – THE BETA PROJECT is a digital initiative that aims to offer educational materials for teaching and learning genetics and genomics to High School studentsThis project began in 2020 within the framework of the Beta Program of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso carried out in the midst of the covid-19 pandemic.


-To develop thinking skills in order to form theories and delve into topics concerning genetics and genomics.

-To build knowledge around the genetic field.

-To exercise cognitive skills to address and develop complex and relevant questions.

The Genes and Genomes course encourages active learning through the use of modern genetic tools available on the internet such as gene and genome databases and genetics software based mainly on the programming language R. This will allow students to discover for themselves the fascinating and sometimes mysterious world of genes and genomes.

-I really liked the course and the teachers gave very good explanations.
